We have had 18 Golden Ticket winners this year! 3 more days left to redeem your tickets! Our first Golden Ticket has been found and redeemed already! Matthew read Nickel Bay Nick to win! April is National Poetry Month too! We have many novels that are written in verse that we've pulled out for kids to read. See below! Last, but not AT ALL least is our upcoming 4th grade author visit! Pre-orders are due to the media center by Wednesday, April 19th!
Before I share our Final Four with you, let's look back at our esteemed Elite Eight competitors. Some of the authors got involved on Twitter, and the students loved it! Unfortunately for a couple of our Twitter authors, Adam Gidwitz and Chris Grabenstein, they did not make it to the Final Four round. It was a close race in a couple of the contests, but Harry Potter is a force to be reckoned with!
We have narrowed our March Madness book competition down to the Elite Eight! Our F.AVE students are showing us their diverse tastes with these eight titles. We have realistic fiction, fantasy, fairy tales, adventure, mystery, humor, and tragedy. Harry Potter is the series to beat, with two titles still in the contest!
The Final Four will be chosen by this Friday! Students can vote in Google Classroom. F.AVE students have spoken! We have narrowed down our favorite books to the Sweet Sixteen! Students will vote through Wednesday to choose our Elite Eight. Will there be upsets? Will Duke...ooops, I mean Diary of a Wimpy Kid go home? Will UNC....ooops, I mean Harry Potter take it all? STAY TUNED! Also, National School Library Month is coming up in just a few weeks! We have some fun planned!
Last week, F.AVE students nominated their favorite books to compete in our annual March Madness competition. Based on those nominations and on our most widely circulated books, we have chosen 32 books to compete in Round 1! Students will vote by this Friday to choose our Sweet Sixteen!
Our beloved little free library just got a Library of Distinction award from the Little Free Library organization! Below is a thread from the private stewards Facebook page, in which people gush over our wonderful library! Awwww....shucks, thanks!
Our 2017 Book Fair is here! Thanks to Little Shop of Stories and our wonderful PTO for bringing these wonderful books to our school. Scroll through our pictures below to see some of the amazing books that we have to sell. Our book fair will be open until 10:00 AM on Friday, Feb. 10th. On Saturday, the F.AVE Reading Bowl Team (the Flaming Falcons, kid-named) competed in our reading bowl competition. The competition was fierce, but we persevered. We had an awesome time! These kids worked super hard over the course of almost a year to read 18 of the GA Book Award nominated titles. Even though we didn't place, we read tons of wonderful books and made some great friends.
Well, our Falcons didn't quite pull it off, but here at F.AVE the upset was real! Nathan Hale defeated defending champion, Garfield!
